oil filter

I asked this question on another website and did receive answers but I would like to ask everyone here also. 1966 442 "400", what brands of oil filters can I use that would fit properly?

There are several threads discussing which brand is the best, here's one but if you have the time try the search option to find other.

As far as your year the fitting the filter threads onto is the same for 330 to 455 engines 1964 into late 1970's at least. The Toronado does have a different angle, but I believe the threads and mating surface are the same.

Threads and gasket are the same from 1964-1990. The 307s are designed to use the smaller diameter PF61 and thus the trans cooler lines run closer to the filter. The larger diameter PF24s fit, but the cooler lines rub.

In any case, I've stopped using AC filters after using them exclusively for decades. The internal design has been changed to a cheaper configuration as part of the off-shore fabrication. I now use NAPA Gold or WIX.

I prefer the WIX 1049 or it's NAPA equivalent 51049.
