1965 A-Body Rear Seat Belts

Hi all
I recently picked up a 1965 F85 that had been stripped down for a budget 1/4 mile drag car. Major rust around the front and back windshields and a badly rotted floor pan is what caused the previous owner to cut it up. I'm evaluating what parts I want to swap over to my 1965 442 project car. I know there's no rear seat belts in my 442 and this F85 has some heavy duty loops behind where the rear seat had been. I'm hoping some of you 1965 guys can tell me if these were factory or aftermarket items. I'm not sure how the seat belts would have been attached, but the locations seem logical and it looks like they've been there a long time. Here's a few pictures, any thoughts??? The outboard ones go into the wheelwells.

Those loops are aftermarket and typically come with racing seatbelt sets. Those are not the factory locations for belt attachment anyway, since you'd be hard pressed to use them with the rear seat in place.

The flat areas right next to those loops are where the belts would attach.

Thank you for the picture TK-65, as I do want to install seat belts in my project car. John

I would suggest that instead of using fender washers, get the thick oval plates that the factory used. These are available from numerous sources.

Again those washers are what the factory used. These belts/washers/bolts came out of an original car at the same time. And notice the round washers, which have a part number on them, fit the round spot on the floor. You may argue that the bigger plates are safer but this is what GM used in 65.

@ 2blu442: I'd believe the above. This is RamZ on www.ultra-high-compression.com. I'd consider him & 442Bro THE authorities on 64/65 Cutlass/442. Between them, they've got the answer to almost any question on these cars. His car is also the only '65 442 to be covered in a national Classic car mag!
