Hood hinges/springs question

Hi,
Does anyone know if the hood hinges and/or springs for 1970 OAI fiberglass hood are different than a standard metal hood? I suspect same hinges but maybe different springs but not sure.

Thanks,
Richard.

Which ones are the same? The ones for the 69 H/O and 442 or the ones for the 70 w-25 and regular steel hoods? I thought there were different springs in the OAI hood hinges but I dunno for sure.

I think that if you have a OAI hood with a steel frame then its the same springs. If you have a aftermarket hood that has a fiberglass frame then you need the lightweight springs.

for factory hoods:

70 OAI hood uses same hinges and springs as all the other 70s with non OAI hoods.

69 also used the same hinges and springs regardless of hood

aftermarket is a nuther animal, altogether

Finally got my new hood hinges (69 442) from The Generals Store in Lansing, IL. They are repreoductions and made overseas. The quality is spot on to my worn out originals. I picked them up on Tuesday and ordered them August 31.

Just thought I would share.

When I got my OAI hood I was told that I'd need springs for the fibreglass hood. I didn't change them but I am careful when closing it. I push the hood toward the windshield to "break" the hold. When I open it, it can get away from you if you're not careful. I think they make springs for the fibreglass hood. Whether you need them or not is your call. I wouldn't change out the hinges, no difference that I can see.
