"Worth" is a loaded question. Buying or selling? Okay, buying in this case. "Condition, condition, condition". Are you looking to buy to sell? Buying to put into Cutlass, buying to put into a W30? I can see each having a different value.
I know none of this is giving you a figure, but it is a perspective.

D heads,carb,dist and intake is worth 4-6K

trans and rear is worth 1500,at least.

market is slow right now on Olds stuff, look for the slow dime if you want that to get that kind of money

That is EXTREMELY conservative. The 3.91 is posi could go 1500 but not sure which trans you are looking at. Likely a Muncie M-21 but possibly a M-22.

I think you should show up with 10K in hand and another 5 in the back pocket and shoot for 8K. You could likely break it all up, clean it up and do very well on resale.

*Not* a rock crusher if stock. '71 was the only year they made it into Oldsmobiles.

i sold a 3.91 about 4 years ago and put an add in journey with olds. i had $650 on it and it sold very fast. all of the calls i got after it sold, the people said i should have had $1000 on it. i would figure that a 3.91 would be worth at least that now. if the housing is not pitted from rust i know that you will get more than that. this is drum to drum.
