1984 Hurst Olds

Hello All,
Can anyone tell me how to tell if I have a numbers matching engine in my 1984 Hurst Olds.
The VIN number is 1G3AK4794EM415607.
Where can I find out any other info about this particular car like where it was built and production numbers etc.
I did check the history of the car and it was once titled to a salvage yard which makes me wonder what happened to it in the past.
I believe it was recovered after it was stolen before I bought it.

Many Thanks

Have you checked the engine stamping pad on the block? Should also be an assembly tag on the cowl area. This will give you paint, model etc. To verify what options you have on your car you must locate the SPID label. (Service Parts Identification Decal) It can be found (I think I remember) either in the trunk (trunk lid or on spare cover) or in the glove box. It will have all option codes of the vehicle (C60,PA1,TT5,F41 etc.)
Oh, also you might still find the build sheet or Broadcast sheet under one of the the front seats, usually jammed up in the springs. Also might be under rear seat sometimes. Let us know what you find so we can help decipher. Pics would also be good!
Hope this helps.

Regards,

Fred

Thanks Fred,

I have attached a picture of the assembly cowl tag and the SPID label. Do you know where the engine stamping block is located on the engine? I do not know where to locate it.

Thanks,

Rene

it should be on a pad, on the block, nearly straight down from the number 1 spark plug location(driver's side front). a light and a mirror will be your friend.

Thank you Bill for your help. I found the number on the block right where you said but I did have to jack the car up and climb underneath to read it. I had to do some sanding and like magic the number appeared before my eyes.
It looks like the engine is not the original. I ran my VIN Number with the last nine digits of the engine number and it shows the car being a 1986 hurst olds from Pontiac Michigan.
I didn't think that they made a hurst olds in 1986.

I am very confused now. Does this mean that the engine was replaced with an original hurst olds motor or am I more confused than I thought?

I checked the VIN history using the link at the top of the page for autocheck and it shows that the number is invalid.
Could it be that the engine was from a donor car that has been wrecked and no longer exists in the database?

or

user name "69ho aurora" here @ classicoldsmobile.com, he seems to be able to come up with h/o info.
as far as i know, nobody has ever found a build sheet in an '83 or '84 h/o.
