I tried to do that last weekend - you have to unhook the upholstery that covers the back of the seatback from the bottom cushion - be very careful removing the hog rings if you plan on reusing the material. I found two bolts on each side securing the seatback to the bottom. I undid all of that and still couldn't totally seperate the seat, but I really just needed a little clearance so I didn't force the issue. Good luck.
