Big Ole 455 And Tranny

Just removed from a 76 oldsmobile 98. Runs like a top. Tranny shifts great. The car was owned by a local funeral home. They said the mileage was original as they had purchased the car new, but who knows? Car had 63,000 and some change on it. The combo is fairly clean, and considering the source, I beleive it to be true. 100% complete wireing and all. Interior on the car was immaculate with no wear on the brake pedal, or the gas pedal................But it is a 76 model, and could have easily rolled over................I really dont know. Pics available, and I can fire it up on a test stand so you can hear it run. $500 obo. Located in central IL. 62092. Local pick-up, or possible delivery available for a fee..........................The body of the car is long gone................Thanks, Mike.

I'll give this 1 day on here. Maybe 2 because i don't think a 76 can accept stick shift.

Who said it had a stick? I said that it shifts good. Its a turbo 400 tranny, and shifted AS AN AUTOMATIC TRANNY should. No hesitations, and shifted nice and smooth. Ive seen them where they seemed to slam into gear. Not this one.................................Nice and smooth........................Will seperate engine and tranny............................................ Mike.

Do any of your 455s have the hole in the back of the block for stick shift ball pivots??

It will be on the driver's side behind the flywheel.

was this motor and tranny in the home's hearse or procession vehicles? if yes, i would bet that mileage is original and accurate. those cars didn't "go out much" and were likely kept spotless, in a climate-controlled garage. i have a friend that used to be "in the business". funeral homes are fantastic sources for older cars with low mileage, in excellent condition.
