371 is, essentially, the same engine as a 303/324. Like the 400/425/455 vs 330/350, the only difference is a higher deck.

Like the late V8s, anything not related to the deck height will interchange.

394 is a different engine, starting with a different casting. It used a wider bore spacing to accommodate the increase from 4" to 4⅛".

Nothing (except the oil and water pump) interchanges between 371 and 394.
