1948 Olds Cutlass for Sale (Not mine)

I don't know if any of you guys are near Wichita KS but there is a 1948 Olds 2dr coming up for auction on Aug 31st. Pretty slick looking! go to www.copart.com and search the Wichita sale.

Wow, nice find. That body is in much better shape than my '46 is but the interior is trashed. It looks like they started to put a later rocket in it but didn't finish. Wondering if they used a newer subframe or fabbed motor mounts like I did. That original model was not a Cutlass but a 76 or 78 depending upon the engine it had just so all us Olds people will know there were no Cutlass's back that early. Love that body condition.

I was checking that car out online the other day.
Looks like a project that was never finished with that engine and later steering column. Why would they leave the AC compressor on? It looks like it was converted to that type engine but maybe they kept the good one and dropped that one in in for the sale ? Looks like somebody had it painted and drove it until it died or got tired of it. Nice brightwork and the body doesn't look too bad in the pics. As usual, never buy a car without looking at it personally or have a very trusted and knowledgable person do it for you, along with a lot of pics.
I got a buddy with a used car lot and he said no problem if I want to bid on anything at Copart, just have the cash to pay for it and transportation arranged immediately after the sale.
I have too many pots on the fire right now.

Direct link to the beast.;

I wasn't thinking it was a 1948 cutlass, just repeating what the auction co had listed it at. DHOFF

Oh I know, I think the surprise is that the original poster of the auction would make that assumption, indicating that others not familiar with Oldsmobile would think the Cutlass name was used that far back....

Wasn't 64 the first time Olds used the name Cutlass?

May, 1961 for the Cutlass Sport Coupe version of the F-85 line. Of course, there was the Cutlass show car in 1954.
