Looking for 1959 Oldsmobile Owners

Hello All,

I am new to the forum and am interested in networking with others.

I have a 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Convertible that I am in the process of restoring. It is a rust free black/yellow license plate California car. It came factory with solid black paint w/ white top, 3 tri-color white/gray/black interior, 394CID Auto, transportable radio and all the power options.

I have done a lot of work on the car thus far - and could surely help other people with their efforts as well.

Since I have had the car so long apart... I sometimes have to research like St. Columbo on a crime case to even figure out what part I have in my hand - much less where it goes and what are the correct fasteners to use.

I am always looking good parts and may have a few things you have been looking for.

Hope to hear from you,
Joe

I have a 59, was a basket case now a couple of steps above. It's on the back burner for now since kids and other projects have come along. My car is a 98 conv as well, pretty rusty, solid color burgandy mist. Acquired most everything to build, its just waiting for me to pick back up the project.

Welcome. We look forward to seeing pics. 59 was a great year for Oldsmobile. I don't know if I like 59 or 60 better but they are both AWSOME!

I created a simple website at www.1959oldsmobile.com . The pics are a bit old, but it gives a look at what I am into.

-Currently, it is just a simple site where I can show my dad my progress. At some point, I would like to rebuild the website and offer it as a landing page to host other 1959 Oldsmobiles, owners, resources and so forth.

Joe, welcome to CO. I am moving this thread to the "vintage" forum with a 2 day re-direct. I think you will get more coverage there.

Hi Joe, welcome aboard. This forum has been highly informative for me and I have only been tuned in for about a week. I don't have a 59 Olds, but like them much. Love those fins!!

Regards,
Dan

1959 88

Hey. I got my super 88 about two years ago. It's a four door holiday hard top. LOVE the hard top roof line! 51,000 orig miles, really nice condition. I replaced the entire break system, kept it orig as well. Getting the hydrovac master cylinder rebuild was a b**ch. Costly and hard to find someone who even know what it was. I drive the hell out of my 88! Why own it if you don't drive it. I'm looking for 98 tail lights for it. Those seem to be impossible to find as well. I'll get some picts up. And hey, I checked out your site. Nice!

Welcome Joe,

Obviously a man of taste lol.
im 3 yrs into the rebuilding of my coupe and have driven her 12k miles since buying her.
Parts are a challenge but the pay off is the rarity of your car, go to any car show and you are likely to be the only one.
Enjoy
Scott

I have had 8 1959 Oldsmobiles over the years including a 98 convertible, and Dynamic 88 wagon. My 98 4 dr hardtop is the one used as seen in Kathy Matteas 1997 video "455 Rocket" the car now resides in Sweden. Joe I think I did business with you a month or two ago, and was supposed to call you, but I accidently erased the email with your phone number. I do have a library hard cover copy of the 59 shop manual if you would like it I'll send it to you. Paul

My other dream car is a fully loaded 59 Olds. I have a 57 Super 88 J2 four door hard top with the rare synchro-mesh transmission and a 60 Fiesta Wagon both which I restlessly love. They are both projects with much attention needed. GOD WILLING I'll see them make it through.

Hiatus... Now have momentum.. 1959 Olds Convertible -

Hello everyone.

After having it for 20 years (luckily in climate controlled California workshop) I can't believe that I am still dreaming of completing this amazing car! I have built 2 homes, restored 3 other cars and just can't seem to get this car together! Most likely because my Dad, 55+ years in Auto Body gave me 2 boxed "Left" & "Right.

Hats off to a professional who is that confident... For me, the Struggle has been REALl!!!

But... I am now full speed ahead to complete it. Well... At least until I run into the next "What the Heck is this Little Part" resurfaces.

-Joe
