anybody ever mount a 295/55/15 tire on the back of a 69? i mounted a 295/65/15 which is 30" tall on a 10" rim with a 6.5" bs. i used a 1/2" shim to adjust the backspace to get the tire centered perfect. this tire is tight, i am pretty sure the 28" tire will fit but wanted to know for sure. any clearance issues or do i go with the 275/60/15.

 

If you know a 295/65 fit, why don't you think a 295/55 will fit? They are the same width.

 

I know a guy running the 295/55 MT's on a '69 and they fit but I believe the rim is 15x8 w/4.5 backspace. Lets see some pics of that 295/65 on the 10" rim.

I tried the 295x65x15's on 8" rim on my 69 after going thru 2 sets of 275x60's the previous 4 years - and enroute to the track
with the trunk stuffed first big bump I hit the tire caught the front of the
RR wheel lip trim and pretzeled it .

I switched to the 295x55x15's and they fit perfect and have not had
an issue since.

same ht. as the 275x60's but give ya an extra 1.5" wider footprint than the 275's .

you might say i'm HOOKED on that size now forever.
