[quote=Lady72nRob71;116166]When you pull the pan, it is like, right there! Might as well change it before it wears out... Same with main bearings, rod bearings, pinton rings, etc, etc... Since the tranny is loose, might as well rebuild that, too. While both are out, there are just 12 or so bolts holding the body to the frame................

I just want paint!! LOL! Don't look Allan!!

Lately, there has been some truth to this... (See the "why are cars called her" thread)... It is Lady 2's fault.

Hey Now.. Don't let her see that, or Lady 1 could end up with more than scratches on her from a bracelet! Then you'll have 2 pizzed off ladies! Not a pretty sight!!!

Sounds just like one of my neighbors... It take him 2 whole days just to mow the lawn.
I do mine in 35 minutes - beer in hand and mower in gear 3!
(I MUST finish before the beer can is empty...)

You know he just might be out in the garage working on the Vista so he can brag about how he got it done over the weekend. We will know more on Monday. The saga continues.

It's kinda tuff

Hunt down your pressurer washer, wrench, have a cold one, take pics, type, and post all at once. I axed the bear to hold a beer for me and the %*^**$ drank it then crushed the can with his foot He's big on recycling I tried to teach him lefty loosey and he ate an impact socket. Blue Vista he also ate the window washer bottle I so carefully repaired per your instructions.

Citcapp, It's basic Battleship Grey. I used a mop.

Sprayed the brackets in my hand whilst holding them in a rag in it.

We're going to have a special on Olds parts with overspray any day now. Need any 455 valvue covers?

Jamesbro,

Nice progress gettin the motor out. It looks like your spraying red on the engine? Keep up the good work and keep those bears and gorilla's happy.

I'd like to get out in the garage as well to wrench, but it's too cold here. (Around 40 - yuk)

I can't believe it, I think we've all been hoodwinked by an ex top fuel dragster mechanic who could rebuild an engine between rounds.
If you took the bet that bear will be around to collect and he doesn't take no for an answer.

The bear is getting a little cranky before hibernation, maybe he should have typed and taken the pics?

I was so proud of myself actually having an idea let alone a good one and now the evidence is gone.
I know the bear is an environmentalist but the jar could have been recycled properly and made into twizzle sticks or something that would equally benefit mankind.
In about 12 billion years when the earth is incerated by the sun's death dance it will be ultimately recycled into the universe, before then it will just be chewed plastic with a long sad past.

Did he light it on fire first?
I know bears in Alaska prefer that the tires in the dumps are burning before dining.
The socket should be retrieveable after a while if you can locate where he goes.
I always hear people ask if bears "go" in the woods but nobody ever has an answer?

I'm a one trick pony, that's it.
The only other thing I remotely know anything about is chewing gum and bailing wire.

All I can picture are the bear and the gorilla from The Three Stooges.
I loved that ape, the gorilla of my dreams.

Jamesbo, it's looking beautifus!!! I can't wait till I can post pics of the most wonderful paint job Bluevista is gonna do on the prettiest one's engine!!
No chewing gum, bailing wire, duct tape or battleship gray paint applied with a mop allowed, though!! I may have to hire a few bears and gorillas too! Let me know when you're done with yours, and maybe they can migrate this way!
Look for some new and exciting pics I'm going to post tomorrow. I thought you may be getting tired of looking at engines, so I thought I'd give you something a little easier on the eyes to look at!

For those exhaust manifolds, I used graphite lube after I had them sandblasted. I don't have a whole lot of time on them yet, but there isn't any sign of discoloration, yet.

I didn't want to put some paint on and have the manifolds end up looking worse than they did when I pulled them off.

Thanks to Car Craft for the tip.

Helpful hints

1] Mark hood with tape before removing

2] Get Large supply of rags to clean engine

3] Use large wrench as Cherry picker wheel alignment tool

4] Use small jack to hold up tranny

5] When you remove flex plate to paint engine put it back on before reinstalling engine

I'll keep those reminders on the wall of the garage you might do the same too. Always fun taking the motor in and out for practice. I did advise you to use memory enhancing drugs didn't I. Your like me you just don't listen.

Looks real nice, got the tiger back in the tank
