Another Flat top checking in the CO hotel.

Hey all.

I am usually on another forum and now I find I have been missing out.

What a cool website.

I have a 1972 Cutlass Cruiser (flatty

)

I had both a Cutlass Wagon and a Vista but I sold the Vista because it was unmolested and I was looking for something more sporty.
I should have peeled off the woodgrain and done as I pleased.
It would have saved me thousands of dollars!!! And years of restoration.
But oh well, I decided to save the flat top from going to the scrap yard.
And I like flat tops better for me.
Here is a picture of both together.
The Flat top i was messing around with electrical tape stripes just for kicks. (I was figuring out how to decorate her)

The Vista only had 55K but no A/C or options but VERY good condition.

The Cutlass wagon on the other hand was strait but VERY rusty.
The restoration included parts shipped from Fla.
3 Doors , 2 rear quarters of a car , tailgate , Factory 442 hood.

And the welded patches included both fender patch panels, full windshield cowl patched, lower fender mounts, floors, spare tirewell,..and we ended up cutting off patch panels from the used quarters I had shipped.

Nice pictures, too bad you couldn't keep them both

But a man needs to know his limits, something I've failed terribly with... collecting anything Oldsmobile I can drag home! But thank you for sharing the photos, it looks like a labor of love but one you can be proud of after the work is done.

Welcome to the home of all Oldsmobile wagon owners in the known universe.

We have our own seperate forum designation anyway.

Wow! nice job. You must really like that wagon.

The Vista was too nice to mess with and the wagon wasn't that bad if you have a shop, welder, powerful tools, lots of pieces-parts and mucho experience.

I've moved up from my McDonald's bags stuffed in the rust hole followed by window screen and bondo method.
My new technique is to shoot expanding spray foam insulation in the hole and when it's dry I artisticalfully hack off the excess globs that ooze out with a dull hatchet and then paint.

I couldn't have done it without him.

Anyway, after we spent a year , I brought it to Maaco.
Phil sprayed it there for me.

I've got a ways to go yet and am deciding on which rims to roll.

Having done a LOT of the metal work on the Silver Bullet over 4 years, I give you multiple thumbs-ups on the LongTop restoration. Gosh, what a choice, as both it and the VC are great looking. Stick around, more of us coming out of the woodwork,,,er........metalwork all the time.
