Does anyone know if a fuel tank for a 56 Chevy would fit on a 56 Olds?
The SPECTRA PREMIUM Part # GM28B is a nice replacement stainless steel tank with a side spout... It seems like it would fit and looks about the same size as my rusty tank... The tank is about $150... the guy down at the shop wanted me to pay $400 for him to cut my tank in half, clean it out and then re-weld it... I like the new stainless for $150.. if it'll fit! p

I cannot say if it will fit or not but would be doing the same if I were you. Hope if fits!

My vote is to get it. If it's close to the Olds tank in size and shape, and you can make the tank fit in some way (safe and securely). you won't have to worry about the rust anymore with the new tank being stainless. Even if you can't get it to fit, and you are stuck with the part, $150 is not too big a hit in the pocketbook. I'm sure there's a chevy owner out there that you could sell it to, if need be.
Good luck. |

Thanks!
Hey Thanks hialeah56!!
That was what I was most worried about, because the boys down at the shop can modify the fill to the gas door...but then it's gonna cost me for fabrication and welding... so it brings me back to my tank anyway... I'm still going to search the web for a parts car or something like that. This is the regular 88, I also have a Super that I'm working on... i'll keep y'all posted on my progress... p
