1956 olds newbie

I'm new to this hole forum thing, so forgive me for not introducing myself properly. I live in Michigan and I'm working on my forth Oldsmobile a 1956 88 2 door hard top. My first "old" olds. it has a rocket in it that I'm in the process of "re-sealing" due to it sitting so long every thing that can leak did. also I have an engine that came with it that I was told was "original" to the car but it looks like its turning out to be a 303. my car shows 20000 miles on it which I was told was true, still wears the original paint. can't beleive everting I'm told but its a pretty solid start for me living up here in the rust belt of America. The other Olds that I have owned are a 69 442, 72 cutlass and a 77 olds. I had fun with all of them and wish I still did. Thanks to everyone on the forum for letting me post.

Welcome to the site. 56's are great looking cars. The orginal engine should be a 324. Any questions as away there are more then a few 56 owners here.

Cool Congrats on your first early Rocket!

Cool choice! The 56 is my favorite Olds, which is ironic(check out my newbie post 'the land Detroit forgot').Enjoy it and if I can provide any info, let me know. One little chestnut-from experience, check over the steering system well, including the box-steering slop can suck the joy out of Rocket Motoring, and be hazardous.

Yes BPWordman, I have 2 56 Holiday's One is a Super 88!
My 88 steering was really loose compared to my Super then the seal broke on it and I need to get the whole thing rebuilt.
An ol'timer told me to replace the king pins and it should ride like a dream!
I love the 56 88's

Welcome

Welcome aboard.

I have a true fondness for 56's. it was the first car I ever wrenched on. Right after the Civil War ended
