What is a Slim-Jim

Sorry for my ignorance but I'm quite new to some of the terminology associated with transmission. In many of the posts the term slim jim is used. Is this the throttle linkage that affects transmission shift points?

Also, I just ordered a GM Manual for my 1955 Super 88. Will this have instructions on adjusting the throttle linkage?

I guess that slim jim is another name for roto-hydramatic?
Wich prod year do you have on your transmission

It's a 1955 Super 88 with a Hydra-Matic tranny

A Slim-Jim is another name for the Roto-HydraMatic that Oldsmobile used from 1961 through 1964. I believe the stock transmission in your '55 is referred to as a Super HydraMatic. Jetaways were used from 1956 through 1960.

I mis-spoke the other day, I think. I called the trans in your '55 a Super HydraMatic, which I guess it is, but the term I was really trying to think of at the time was Dual-Range HydraMatic.
