I am in the process of doing just this. I went on ebay and found a complete 4 speed. EVERYTHING, springs, z-bar, balls, flywheel, bellhousing, pedals, trans, etc. I then found a 4 speed crank and had the motor rebuilt with it being installed. So far no problems. This is the expensive way to do it but also the easiest.

Read the link that Norm posted above. Your biggest problem is the pilot bearing recess in the crank (or lack thereof). By the way, ALL 350 Olds motors were painted gold (at least until the mid 1970s). The color means nothing.

Absolutely correct. I rebuilt my small block with the different crank so I could install the 4 speed. The most difficult part of the whole deal. I know there are jigs out there to drill the notch but am not sure how to get one or go about doing it. Good Luck!
