Overdrive Transmission

A few months ago I posted asking if anyone new the best way to swap an overdrive transmission into a 72 cutlass supreme with a 455/th400 powertrain with a column shifter. I was wondering if anyone has any updated information for me.

I know that TCI sells a th700r4 that looks like a good candidate. Yearone sells an adapter plate for the 700r4 to the back of the engine as well as a shifter conversion kit. Would the drive shaft need modification for this to work. would a different torque converter be needed? What else would need to be done?

Shop around for the adapter plate - lots of vendors sell them. Try Summit and Jegs. This is the standard Chevy to BOP adapter.

Why not 2004R no need for adaptor the ratios are closer together can be made to take high horsepower TCI also sells a version
