Need to know the best way to find a 400 trany for a 1977 oldsmobile cutlass

You can find a THM400 in any junk yard.
A THM400 out of a 1968 and later Buick, Pontiac or Olds will fit. You will need to have the driveshaft short and you will need to change the front yoke on the drive shaft. The 400 trans was used on the big block cars until 1976 and the 375B was used until 1980. Most of the time all you will need to do is move the crossmember aft to the holes that are already drilled in the frame.
