Anybody got any info on a z-bar setup for a manual trans. for a 1974 hurst. The car came with the motor out and the z-bar was just hangin there. I dont know if a setup from a 72 or so will work or not. The bracket mounted to the frame also looks a little fishy. Companies like original parts group only carry parts from 64 to 72. any pics or info would be gladly appreciated.

Anthony, when you say 74 hurst, do you mean Hurst/Olds, or hurst manual trans. shifter. If it is an H/O, none came with manual trans., all were automatic w/ dualgate shifter. I'm pretty sure that a stick in a 74 is even rarer than a 73. Some 76 and 77s came with a stick, but they were behind the 260 engine. Would love to see some pics of the setup.

Well here's the deal: I purchased a 1974 supreme from texas that was in excillente contition. A whole garage of olds parts came with it. A 67 toro 425, a 455, 2 350's, turbo 400, manual flywheels, etc., etc. (You get the picture). Also there's a so called 1974 Hurst Olds in a garage here in Ohio, also comes with the deal. $750.00 bucks. Now, the so called 74 Hurst is not actually a Hurst, according to the numbers. However somebody must have stole a bunch of parts off of one and tried to make one. Now one thing I do know is it has the 74 H/O hood with the louvers, all of the interior parts. I dont know if you have ever seen a manual console from one of these cars but it's definately a 4sp console. Manual column and there is no R N D 1 2 on the console, column, or the dash guages. All set up for a 4sp. Here's what I think I've got: A 74 cutlass that came with a 4sp and somebody hat a H/O donor car, maybe wrecked, and borrowed the parts. It did come from the factory with a 455. I'll try to send you some pics.
