60 olds with 72 455 help with back up switch

Hope someone can help. I have a 60 olds 2dr and have a 1972 455 with a 400 transmission. The body and accessories remain 1960. I am trying to figure out how to work my back up lights. The neutral safety is on the column and with the 394 the Reverse was all the way down. I've tried a 68-72 swith but it does not match up. I thought I read once where there was a switch that worked off of the transmission gears but cannot find it. Any suggestions?

You might check with some of the Pontiac repro guys to see lf they have a neutral safety that works with the 400 and mounts on the 60 steering column. Another possibility would be to find a 65-67 Olds with turbo 400. That neutral safety switch might work.

Check street rod catalogs. There are lots of aftermarket backup lamp switches that bolt to the trans and operate directly off the linkage. You might need to fab a bracket or linkage rod. Speedway Motors is one source.
