86 cutlass
i have a 1986 cutlass supreme broughm.
i am wondering if anyone can help me figure out what kind of transmission i have? |

Is it OD? if so likely a 200r4, otherwise th200 assuming its stock.

look at the trans pan if it says metric then it a th200

im thinking about dropping a 350 SB in my cutlass
will it fit right with the tranny i have or will i have to get a new one right away |

A metric will survive behind a 350, but will not take any abuse. I had one behind a chevy 350, and cant tell you how many miles I had on that car before a friend wrapped it around like 15 poles before dropping it into a ditch. needless to say the car was junk before the tranny. I did get on it a bit from time to time, but not much, or hard.

A 350 is a great choice. I would not bother to rebuld a plain 200. A properly built 200R4 would be my choice since it is being pulled anyway. It would be a good way to balance the increased power to fuel econ. With the right effort, you can retain the stock computer if you need to.
