1966 M/T Shifter boot Where to buy?

Need to get a replacement non-console Shift boot for my 66 with HD 3spd on the floor (original hurst handle).

Fusick lists what i need- but its almost $50+shipping!!!
Are there any other vendors that might have this?

I don't really want to go with the generic Hurst square boot...

That's about as good as it gets. We're lucky they're repopped for that price. They've only been out now for a year or so, and before that a *halfway* decent one would cost you $125.00+ if you could find one. Hopefully the metal ring you need to secure it to the floor is still on your floor.

Generic boots cost around $20-30 so the $50 is quite reasonable for a correct part.

I guess when I can look at my OPG Chevelle catalog and see the exact same boot, but with the round hole for the muncie handle for $10- it makes it harder to swallow. But i do understand the demand for the chevelle boot is a lot higher than the olds boot...

I guess the real underlying question was, is there any other vendors that carry the same thing... Regardless of if their have the same price or not, it helps me learn new suppliers and who has what...

Just follow up... I bit the bullit and bought the $55 boot from Fusick's...

Super fast shipping, and item was a prefect match for the original one in the car... Gotta like that!

It's all supply and demand. There are lots of Chubbies so lots of demand to amortize the costs of molds etc. It is the mold, set-up, etc. that affects the pricing the most. Lets say it costs $10,000 setup and you are going to sell 10,000 units, OK their price goes up only $1 each over what it costs to make it and make some profit on it. What if you are lucky to sell 100 units; now it costs $100 setup for each one. I sent Fusick the 66 442 trunk molding that goes across the lid. It was relatively expensive even when available from GMPD. They decided not to reproduce it because of high setup costs for a long cast molding and projected small demand for this one year part vs. what they would have to charge. We are lucky they make as much stuff as they do.

Saw your post and agree with the others ref cost. Do I need a boot UNDER the "accordian" one thats part of the console? Asking cause I do have that ring around the floor cutout and figure something must keep the road crap out. thanks...derek
