66/68 Exhaust manifolds-interchangable?

Hi, Does anyone know if I can replace my 1966 (425) exhaust manifolds for a set off of a 1968 (455)? Are the engines at all compatible in that regard?
Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to interchange?

All 1965-70 B&C body cars use the same RH exhaust manifolds. They also use the same LH manifolds, but there are differences in single and dual exhaust applications.

Toronados have their own specific manifolds that do not interchange with the other carlines.

60s A-body DE manifolds are different from B/C cars, but 1971-74 A/B/C body cars all used the same DE manifolds. Those do not fit the 65-70 big car chassis.

I wanted replace the worn out gaskets but noticed there was a small crack in the passenger side manifold.
Someone was parting out a '66 Toronado but unfortunately they had a "455" in it. I don't know why that is, but that's the deal.
So I want to find out if I can use the manifolds from the "455" engine.
My engine has B heads. If that makes a difference.
I really don't know much about this sort of thing. I bought the car 2 years ago and I'm learning as I go.

Tell us what you're trying to do here. Be specific. What car are you trying to find manifolds for? Without knowing that, we can't tell you what will fit or interchange.

Welcome to the site tarzangui. I agree with rocketraider that's it's not clear what model of car you have, and what model the 455 is out of that has manifolds you are considering. Please provide more specific details of your project.

On a side note, the 1968 455 is a nice motor. If the price is right and you have storage space I'd purchase the whole engine for a future project or trade stock for other items your car may need. You might be able to find other guys in Canada on this site who would be interested in the 455 as well. John

Sorry, I thought I was clear. This is a Toronado forum. I have a 1966 toronado with a cracked passenger side exhaust manifold.I want to replace it.
Someone else who was parting out his 1966 Toronado has manifolds available. But, the engine in his car is a 455. Obviously not the original engine.
All I wanted to know was, could these two engines share the same exhaust manifold.
Could I use the manifold from his 455 on my 425 engine?

If I've worded something incorrectly or left something out I apologize, as I am not a mechanic.

The exhuast manifolds, if they are indeed from an earlier Toro, should fit your car no problem, whether the car had a 425 or 455 should make no difference, as the engines have the same external dimensions. Did you see the motor in the car or can the guy's word on the subject be counted on? Can;t find a pic of the pass side manifold, but the driver's piece will look like this:

Yes I agree with aliensatemybuick that the Toro manifolds should interchange. If your looking for the correct casting numbers for 1966, and if they didn't keep the 1966's on that other car, I have a couple sets of those manifolds in my spare parts pile. John

I thought it was pretty clear. What is throwing you off though I think is many people just think that a '66 Toro since it has a big Olds motor it is automaticly a 455, lots of the uninformed have never heard of an Olds 425.
A 1st gen Toronado exhaust manifold should interchange from a 455 to a 425 or vice versa with no problem. And maybe lots newer but I'm not sure on that.
Good Luck!
