HELLO OLDS LOVERS
I'VE OWNED MANY CARS IN MY DAYS, BUT MY FAVORITE WAS A 1977 CUTLASS. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1988 CUTLASS GT, WHICH I REALLY LIKE. GET LOTS OF COMPLEMENTS ON THE CAR, EVEN WITH THE PAINT BEING A BIT FADED. THERE WERE ONLY 400 OF THESE MADE, MINE IS #211. ONLY THING I'M DISAPOINTED WITH, IS THE POWER. I THINK IT'S A 307 WITH A 4 BARREL.I WOULD LIKE TO PEP THIS CAR UP SO IT GOES AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT, I'D LIKE TO KEEP THIS MOTOR INSTEAD OF SWAPPING.ANY SUGESTIONS WOULD BE WELCOMED.THANKS. HANKY

Welcome to the site Hanky. I just finished looking through my Summit catalogue for performance stuff for the 307. Couldn't find engine kits, heads, or intake manifolds but I did find that you can get a camshaft from Crane, and maybe others. Crane lists camshafts for 260-455 Olds engines for 169 bucks includes the lifters. I don't know if this is what you meant or not. Also, the small block performer series intake manifolds by Edelbrock may fit your 307, I know they are made for and fit the 350. And of course you could easily convert to an aftermarket 600 cfm carburetor if you wished. I know there are kits to rebuild your 200r transmission (I guess that would be what is in your car). You don't have as many options as the sbc guys do, it would take some effort and time on your part but that is what it's all about when owning an Olds. Anybody can throw 8 to 20 grand at a chevy and not know jack sprat about cars and have a hot rod but it takes a dedicated enthusiast to own an Olds. Welcome to the Club!
btw, most people agree a simple yet effective improvement is carb/manifold/headers/exhaust. Do those first.
