403 Stock Intake v.s. Edelbrock 3711/2711 Performer

I am currently rebuilding a 403 and I'm wondering what are the performance advantages of using the Edelbrock Performer over the stock intake. I've heard that the Performer is basically a lighter copy of the Olds intake, if that's the case then the only thing I'm sacrificing is a few extra pounds.

I also plan on removing the EGR valve, would it be better to buy the Edelbrock 2711 (which offers no EGR spot) or is it just as effective to block it off on the existing manifold.

Any answers would be super duper awesome

Thanks

The Edelbrock will add about 5 to 10 HP better air flow into the engine. Also you have more choices of carbs. that you can use. If you don't plan on using a EGR than get the 2711.
For most people it is a mater of money, because they just look cool when open the hood, and any extra HP is always a plus.

Not sure what you're total set up is going to be but unless you have a real tall gear and low compression, I'd seriously think about the RPM. I had a regular Performer on my 350 with a 3.73 gear. Then switched to the RPM, ran better overall with no noticeable loss in low end. Plus you have more Cubic inches than I have as well.

I'm wondering would a A-4 intake from an Olds 307 fit the 403? And if it did how would the stock aluminum intake perform.
