my 68 has some secrets....
well as ive found my 68 is not as "cherry" as i thought...after running the numbers and confirming them my 68 has spilled her secrets. the engine is a 69 motor and judging by the th-350 trans one could assume that the entire drivetrain is most likely out of a 69 cutlass but on the other hand the engine is confirmed by my engine builder and all measurments have been triple checked and it is a 366 cubic inch motor...odd huh
the old man that was the original owner did indeed build a stout motor but forgot one minor detail before firing it up to begin the engine break in.....bless his heart the idiot forgot to install intake manifold gaskets...guess he thought blue rtv silicone would do the trick....boy would i love to have seen the look on his face and hear the words he cussed as the motor started sucking water into the #2,#6,and #7 cylinders...he did shut it off in time and now here i am 15 years later fixing his mistake and whipping this heap back ito shape. also as ive found there is the usual rust in the bottom of the front fenders and i need a driver side floor pan but other than that there is no real rust(original california car...fremont
but the thing that really ticks me off is that the original owners wife said that it was never in an accident....well im not dumb but it sure looks like the driver side fender was caved in at one point cause bondo will always make itself present. so the moral of all this rant is i get to mini tub this car with out ruining value cause its just a plain jane "s"....now where did i put that sawzall??
