71cutlass s hp & tq figures

First of all i'm new here and want to say that this site is one of the best! My question is what are the hp & tq numbers, roughly, for my 71 cutlass s w/350, 4bbl, and auto? Just bought the car and was wondering what I had for #'s before I do any upgrades. Thanks for your help, BOB.

The hp rating was 260 for 1971 350 with a 4bbl rochester carb. CR was 8.5:1. You could easily wake the car up with a nice little cam/carb/manifold setup from Edelbrock. Try their rpm series, you can get that stuff at almost any speed shop or mail order outfit. A set of headers will make a noticable difference too. Welcome to our site and hope you have fun with your Cutlass.

Thank you oldsguy! I was told the engine already has an edelbrock intake and it does have headers, though I don't know the name of the manufacturer. The car sounds great at idle and RPM's increase and decrease w/out backfire or anything. It has a lopeing(?) idle to it so i'm thinking that it might also have had a cam put in already? Anyway, how much power could be expected from a carb, intake, header, and cam swap? Thanks again for any input. I just can't wait to burn some 5.0 stang's around here!
