cam ? rods? dream motor would an all out motor, i would like to get my car into the nines. rods i'm fliping quarts, on alum rod or just spend the extra and get some olivers or anther top brand , and the cam will be a roller.and i'm undecided if ,i'm want alky . because of low heat or e 85 becAUSE I CAN run down to any station in the midwest and fill up, but will probly end up going alky ,because my piston are rated 15.1 which i can lower ,i want to send my parts out and have some just finsh and make drop in bottom half , but i have'nt had any luck in doing that way, so i may be selling these parts and my bbo parts ,and just buy somrthing that i can go as far as my pocket will allow go, HERMANS PICS 013.jpg

I like your idea of a nine second BB on alky. I see your planning ahead, or building a V-10. My best advice to you, when you do get serious, or come up with some tall coin, call Bill Travato @ BTR. In my opinion he's one of if not the best Olds engine builder out there. I had some Battens that he looked over for me that were ported pretty heavily. He took the time to explain to me all the issues with my specific Batten heads. They are very fragile light weight, thin, soft castings. They are prone to weaknesses in the valve seat area. Most of the fastest Oldsmobiles out there are running the Battens, but most of those guys probably spent $5-$10K to make them work that well and live. You may also want to sell that steel crank and invest in a billet one. Keep that rotating mass as light as possible or you will find out how weak the block itself is. That’s why the heavy hitters switched to the Nascar or Deisel blocks. That girdle you have, is it by chance made @ Rocket Racing? I don't know how modified your chassis is, but be sure to check for clearance issues with the front crossmember after you lower the pan. I looked at John's girdle, but I have a problem with trusting welds on a girdle. It sounds like your broke and frustrated like me. Try not to get discouraged. You've got a lot of nice parts there. Talk to Bill. He's the only guy I would trust with my next engine.
Here's some crappy shots of my old Battens-

i really would like bill. to finsh my motor , i was kinda waitin , to see how one of his past deals went threw ,i read over on rop that guy sent him his parts , he made him a complete package to just drop in. that was an idea. but , i'm kinda tried of meeting and reading about , some places and they turned out ,to be not what their claiming, or their sending their work out to anther source ,and chageing you and taking the credit , for some else work ,and not owning up to the mistake if.you have problem.and talking to most these engine builder , that you catch at the track ,and doing business threw email and phone call.gets kind stressful for both partys,so my parts sit ,and i'm tried of seeing them sit, so i'm really thinking of selling my lot of bbo , and converting to a keith black.you can buy directly out of a book , and get what you pay for, i love olds ,and building this motor has been , a nite mare. we need a good olds man in the midwest. that wants to do good business ,and stand by his work. its ,hard to believe that joe mondello[R I P] and bill {BTR] are the only stand up guys that olds have,
