72 Olds Cutlass Molding wanted
I'm restoring a 72 Old Cutlass, 2 door hardtop and have most of the parts rounded up. But missing one piece of molding..... Looking for the short piece of molding that goes on the right rear panel between the door and the wheelwell.

Is this a body side molding you're talking about? The piece that that's supposed to absorb door dings? Also, you need to be more specific about 2 door hardtop. Is it a Cutlass Supreme (notchback) or Cutlass S (fastback). The two body styles used different side moldings on the rear quarter.

72 Olds Cutlass Molding wanted
AlanR Thanks for the suggestion, Yes it is the side molding to prevent door dings. and it is the Cutlass S. I'll take some pictures today and post to guarantee to everyone what I'm talking about.

I have a set as well. Mine is just the stainless steel, there is no rubber in the middle. Let me know.

If I remember correctly the rubber insert is just glued on. My Dad bought 2 1972 Cutlass S coupes. One had the rubber insert moldings on the side, the other had just the stainless. I didn't like either molding. Personally I found they were put in the wrong place to catch most door dings. I think they were more ornamental than effective, so I ditched them on my car. If you do this, you'll also have to grind off the metal posts that hold the clips. I don't miss those things, and my car's not a driver anymore either. It stays well away from things that scratch or dent. Those moldings were also a PITA to keep clean and bright in the winter, even with frequent washings. 70's cars were bad for rust in a lot of areas, and these side moldings did tend to trap crud underneath and create pain bubbling that was not easy to fix without taking everything off. Anyway, that's just my opinion of these things. Trim shops should be able to fix you up with the rubber inserts and glue them in.
