I came across this establishment while at a swap meet here in central Ohio a couple weeks ago. I have them on my list of possibilities to freshen up my Muncie this winter. They repair and sell rebuilt units and they seemed straight up. If anybody on this board has had any experience with them please share.

I have one from a 64 Chevy, rebuilt.
You will have to figure out how you want me to send it.

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/pts/1209662999.html

I will send out of town for a board member.
I will go $500, shipping not included.
An aquaintance may be going back east for possible delivery solution.
If paypal, add 3% for all monies being sent.
Jim

This AUTO GEAR MUNCIE M-22 has less than 100 miles on it. We changed it out to a Richmond 6-Speed because we needed a very low 1st gear plus overdrive. Trans is perfect just driven to a few car shows. 2.19 first---1.64 second---1.27 third and 4th is direct. These trannys are a copy of the Muncies only with every part being stronger. Gears are made in Italy by Masiero. No China parts. All bolts are grade 8 and it takes a turbo-400 yoke on the output shaft. You can look up the specs at autogear.net. It takes a standard Hurst competion plus shifter or any other similar shifter. 26 spline input shaft. $1500.00 firm, shipping to lower 48 only.

Just a thought.....The Borg Warner Super T-10 bolts right up.

Usually you can find a used one for less than a Muncie.

They are stronger than the muncie.

They have many many different gear ratios which are an advantage on the street. All the way down to a 3.44 first gear model.....there are 2.88 first gears and 2.64 first gear models... These will let you run a higher rear end ratio and still take off zoom zoom at the light.....

Yes they are stronger.
Without a doubt.
May, or may not be cheaper. Check prices locally, and on e-bay.
Will need larger output shaft, fine spline clutch.
Muncies have many different gear ratio's also, just remember that a higher numeric 1st gear will reduce torque rating on any trans.

What are you doing with the car? Racing, slicks, etc? You can get a new ST10 from Jegs or Summit for around 1600 shipped, or spend about double that for a Jerico with the ratios you want, and the strength.

Just to clarify, I think you mean an M21 (close ratio) or an M20 (wide ratio), not an M22. The M22 (aka Rock Crusher) is a heavy duty close ratio that will usually be much more expensive to get.

A big block with stick gets my gets my heart racing every time I get behind the wheel. To me it is the ultimate Oldsmobile experience.
