1968 Vista Cruiser (Parting Out)

Parting out a 1968 Vista Cruiser. There are lots of good parts. It has all the glass (windshield sucks but the roof glass is mirrored not tinted). Car has factory air conditioning. Much of the chrome is decent, emblems are there, and the interior has come useful parts. If you need parts or would like pictures of anything let me know.

I am located in Montana so shipping is up to you, but I'll do whatever it takes to get your parts to you. The area code is 59901 if you want to calculate shipping costs.

I will try to put come pictures up tomorrow when I get home from work.

Thanks for looking, hope I can help some people out.

Welcome to the site! When you post the pictures include shots of the nose as the fenders, core support, headlights, etc. They are the same as what was used on Cutlass/442's. For large items I find shipping greyhound bus lines is often the best. I'll go through the recycle box from an appliance store for large boxes that I can cut down and wrap the body panels with.

Thanks for the welcome and the pointers! I haven't parted out many cars but this one had too many parts to let it go the the crusher. I just wish I had another VC of my own to use these parts on.

A lot of nice parts on that car! And it doesn't look like the rust around the top glass is too bad. If you were closer I'd be interested in the whole car to try and revive it When you pull the front bumper try to be gentle around the plastic headlight surrounds. Old plastic breaks easy, but if those are good with few or no cracks there's big demand for them. If you've got the time to dismantle it and package/sell parts I'd encourage you to remove the parts and take photos of them off the car. Things that I would be sure to pull and offer up would be:

Plastic headlight surrounds
Grill
Front bumper
Front fenders
Stainless trim that runs down the sides
Radiator core support, especially if its not rusted through under the battery
Radiator (if its a 4 row core the top plate would also be in high demand)
What size of engine/transmission does it have? (if you need help identifying it post pictures and we'll help you out)
Any power options, like power windows, door locks, seat
Top glass & stainless trim around it
Roof rack
Tailgate
Rear bumper
Dash and instrument panel, especially if the area around the radio hasn't been cut out.
If it has power disc brakes on the front, pull that and sell it as a set
Tail light assemblies

If you have the time you might make some pretty good money selling these parts. If you don't find the interest here, then try ebay. Good Luck, and feel free to send me an email or PM if you have questions about how anything comes apart or what something is called. John

If you were closer, I'd buy the whole thing. Appears to be lots of good parts & not much rust.
John, don't you need a '68 to sit beside your "new" '69?

final drive posi? VC's have larger rear brakes [wider shoes??] so may be worth saving at least those pcs.

Well, since two of the windows on the roof were shot out by kids with BB guns yesterday, I'd sell it for the price of scrap. Thats about $300. Everything is still there that it came with when I got it.

I don't be seeing any engine pix.
Hot air tube still in place?

Please consider taking it to [or having them come get] your local boneyard, where folks can have more than a week or two perhaps to pick pcs off it.

Once they are gone, they are gone.

You will probably get the same or nearly the same money too.

I will post under hood pictures tomorrow when I get off work. Bear with me, I suck at computers.
I plan on holding out as long as I can on selling off the entire car, but the wife says it makes the house look like a dump- clearly she has a different idea of beauty that I do!

I will be calling around to see if any places will take it, or trade for some new stuff...

Engine Pics

Finally got a couple hours to tear the front end off. Found out she's just a 350 Rocket. If you see anything you need or want pictures of something specific let me know. To those of you who are waiting for parts, I'm getting them off now and will be getting picures soon. Thanks for being patient.

Hi MT Cruiser! I am so happy I logged in again. I have a fully restored 400 Cui 1968 Vista Cruiser myself that my two-year old son (believe it or not) wrecked against a tree by releasing the foot brake. All I miss is two chrome trim moldings and I see 'm on your pictures! I'm talking about the LH fender moldings, the one with the "p" shape and the one directly in front of the driver's door. Also interested in the parking light in the fender, the fender extension molding at the front and the little filler that sits inside the fender behind the extension molding. You would make me very happy if you could send me a quote for these parts, I've been looking all over the US. I live in the Netherlands but I take care of all S/H of course. Please tell me you still have those parts! you can also call me at +316 5280 3565 to do business directly. Thanks! Jeroen de Jonge, Voorschoten Netherlands.

Thanks,
Derek

I am looking for the interior trim on the passenger side that goes up the door pillar between the front and rear door for my 1968 Cutlass. Attached are pics of mine that is damaged and the screw holes are way to large now. Is yours the same on you vista cruiser as on my Cutlass? If so I'd like to buy it from you. I can be reached at toddvcarroll@hotmail.com
Thanks for your time...Todd
