the nos fenders pop up fairly regularly on various Olds boards for a whole lot less. Brothers is the last place I would take seriously when it comes to putting a true value on something.

well it looks like this thread got off on the wrong foot. i have been out of the loop so to say for a long while 15 years to be exact. so i really don't know what these parts are going for. times are tough, had to sell my 71 442 w25 earlier this year and now it seems i must sell the parts i have just to pay the bills. i called around to all the aftermarket and nos dealers. BAP was the only place that had fenders and they want $2600 a pair. i really need the money but i will notsell these for sub market value. hope you all understand!!it would be nice if there was nowhere to go to get pricing on what these are going for.

The market has had a correction in terms of classic car prices and parts.
The sky high prices of 3/4 years ago are gone. My observation is that proices have dropped 30% or more. A fair price for the fenders is probably 1300-1500 for the pair. |

I agree, cars and parts are not going for the high prices they were a few years ago. There is a single NOS fender on another Olds site and another on this site and both are asking $700 so your estimate falls in line with his price as well!

Yes nos fair prices fall between 600.00 and 750.00 per fender. If i were to crash my olds and needed them i would have no problems paying the 750.00 each for them or slightly higher.

I was at the Nats today and I couldn't believe what the parts were going for. If these are off their highs then God help us all because I'm gonna guess that a lot of cars will be left to rot (or built to incorrect/cheaper specs) at these prices. I understand the supply demand aspect and don't begrudge the pricing. I just can't believe it. My wife was ready to sell my W-30 for parts.![]() $800 carbs, $700 consoles, $500 ram air "parts". I only paid $2500 for the car in 1981! ![]()

Prices at the Nats for the factory made performance stuff have always seemed to be at a premium. Part of it is there are a few guys that get there very early and buy up as much of the rare stuff as they can, take it back to their spot, mark it up, and put it back out for sale (it happens every year and it's the same people). It's a free market so that is that.
Think about it also...what event, if any, would you think you had the best chance of getting large $$ for a part? Well, it would be at the one day Olds Homecoming show/swap meet held in Lansing every year AND/OR the OCA Nats. Those two events have the largest gatherinig of all Olds stuffand Olds people every year so the temptation and motivation is there. Everyone is all worked up after seeing all the nice show cars....so they are in the right "mindset" once they hit the swapmeet. Sort of another version of the atmosphere created at all these big collector car auctions. Just my thoughts on the psychology behind the pricing. Does it work?....who knows?? One incontrovertible fact is that A LOT of the repro parts aren't exact copies of the original stuff. Sure, you have to split hairs on some of the stuff to tell the difference but the FACT REMAINS, in A LOT of cases, there isn't anything like the original stuff.

70 fender
John,
I guess what I'm asking is do you have a correct 1970 fender. I don't want to put a 71 or 72 fender on my 70, just because they bolt on doesn't make it a 1970 fender! If you have a correct 1970 fender, with out the ^ every few inches or so along the inside of the fender, where the edge of the hood shutsagainst......I'm interested in it! The one pictured on the bottom is what I'm looking for. |

I'm not here to knock your prices on the fenders, as NOS are where it's at(although if they didn't have the little "crumple zones", they would be sold by now, but just letting you know, I bought 2 NOS never opened still in the wrapper(with the mounting screws still in the little package) for a 70-72 Cutlass, 442, f-85, vista, wheel opening moldings at the Nats for $75 for the pair....fenders seem reasonable, not sure on the moldings...I know I got a deal but...they are rears, not fronts if that makes a big difference?

i was under the impression that the fronts are harder to find, as most cars are wrecked in the front especially high performace cars. and yes mine are still in the wrapper with pack of mounting screws.

If you want to split hairs, then yes, the fronts are generally a little more valuable than the rears. It wasn't that long ago you could still order one of the rear WOM's from GM...thus, there are more NOS rears out there IMO.
On any NOS Olds fender...don't be suprised if the alignment of the large ear/bracket that goes into the door jamb at the top/front of the door is WAY OFF. I've been involved with two cars using NOS Olds fenders and on one of them you can see where a prior owner had to elongate (quite a lot) the large holes in the brackets to allow the mounting bolt to go in straight. On another car I was involved with restoring, we had to completely remove the brackets and relocate them to get the proper alignment. On the first pair I mentioned the brackets will probably also be removed and relocated when the car eventually gets a complete repaint. Typical for some NOS parts. Oh yeah...back to WOM's. On yet another Olds I helped restore, the owner provided a set of GM NOS WOM's, still in the original wrappers, etc. Threw them in the trash. Not one of the screw mounting holes was in the correct spot and they also looked like crap. Finally, the lip where the mounting screws go was trimmed/cut short. Anyone that buys NOS stuff and pays big $$ would be well-advised to see the stuff IN PERSON and or you really better trust the seller to know what the hell he/she is talking about or to know what "to look for" when describing those parts. People that are inexperienced in terms of knowing what a good original part should look like are the last people I would want to send big $$ to for a NOS part. GM packed up A LOT of junk and put it in the dealer parts system. You guys don't think they junked all that stuff do you??? There is another ad on this part of the site that included an NOS dashbead moulding....good luck on that thing ever fitting a dashpad again. They shrink up just sitting in the box for a few years. BE CAREFUL ON THE NOS STUFF.

man you guys are really cheap or something. i can see this was a waste of time. and as far as the fender and wheel house moldings not fitting right. i have not seen this at all. 18 years ago when i bought these parts and restored my 71 w25 i checked all the fenders i bought on the car because 1 of the 6 i bought was bent and wanted to make sure they were all straight. guess i will keep them for the next project! the wheel opening moldings i got fit good so i did not check the extra set i have. i suggest that if you can find parts cheaper buy them and stop hassleing me about the cost. basically FO!!!
