Olds 468

Mondello does not have a shop in FL. I didn't say he built it. I should have worded it differently. All parts are from Mondello and if you talk to Lynn or Joe and tell them I Gary Lima built it he will vouch for me. and ask him about my 72 olds cutlass that ran faster then they did in NJ in 2000
9.54 @ 129 with stock cast iron heads one carb no nitrous which I no longer have. The fastest run was in NE 9.3 @ 134! I've been associating with Mondello since the 80's and built many Olds engines and other engines. this is a great deal for someone who wants to get into this caliber of an engine.

The lower crank/rods is the Pro-race Assembly they use in the twister, pistons are probe#mpp-2612-185 FT, C&A ZGTF Rings Machined fitted, 8084 sfi balancer & inertia ring gear Assembly was balanced by Mondello. PTW .009 MB = .0015 , .002 @ rear CR= .0015 BDH= .20", cam kit JM 5- adv 2 degrees
Cast iron olds J heads bracket racing port job tear drop guides, bronze valve guides widen ports, and raised, / filled center ports etc. .100 uc valves, machined for 3/8 pr & rocker studs not by Mondello. I forget the actuall #'s . I believe CC was around 72 I had milled the heads either .90" or .110" .038" compressed head gasket, flow I believe Intake 262 and Exhaust 178 @ .600. rockers 1.6 roller kit # I believe rk-430
oil restrictors, block 1/2 full w/hard blok as far as dynos has not been run but with the right intake/carb ingnition etc. It should be in the 600hp range wouldn't know for sure until fully assy. and dyno. going by Mondello chart in the 468ci Bracket Racing Engine it should be close.

Who is going to rip this guy?

Why do you think .0015 is to tight? Steve who builds your 455's ? I been bracket racing for 14yrs I use to run my car on Fri,Sat,Sun shifting @ 6800rpm and @ the end of the season I tear it down and check everything and the bearings were like I just put them in. so don't tell me that .0015 is to tight.

If you post almostanything on realoldspower. They usually tear it to shreds especially if the name LYNN is dropped. He's been an *** to a lot of Olds customers.

#1- .0030
#2- .0032
#3- .0035
#4- .0035
#5- .0043

what is there to tear? if somebody tears it they don't have a clue. this is the same set up I ran going 9.3 the only thing that is different is the heads were C and all out race port job and it was a 482 vs 468 and I ran it for years.
Lynn has always been great to me. see it from his point of view he gets thousands of calls and I'm sure 3/4 of them don't have a clue about setting up an engine and asking stupid questions when he has more important things to do. but hey I guess when your in business you should treat your customers a little better.

that is alot. listen I been setting up and runing .0015 and .002 in the rear with oil restrictors/studs/straps 8qt. oilpan and hp pump and never had a problem. Olds suck for oiling system and known for blowing bearings why loosing the clearance unless you are using gear oil? I have a 442 ragtop running low 12's w/o nos and 10.8 w/nos stock crank 20/20 stock rods with side beams ground with the set up above shift at 6000 rpm and I have 80psi cold 50 warm I use castrol 20-50GTX with wynn's additive. what is your oil pressure and what weight oil you use?

Last year I had gotten some bolts from Mondello, and they sent the wrong size nuts for the bolts in the same bag. How can you trust anyone that can make that mistake??? I had to send back the 2 nuts before they would send the correct ones, and I had to call twice to get them shipped out. Ridiculous !!

I'm sorry that you and others had bad experience with Mondello I can't say the same. Everyone handles situations differently and gets different results!

That's interesting to know. Thanks for posting. I'm glad the Oldsmobiles are that forgiving with the tolerances.
I run 20/50 rotella T diesel oil and a little bit of motor honey. Oil pressure is 65 cold and 42 hot. Spin her to the moon @ 6500.

Sounds like a fun motor you have there.

I don't want this post turning into a bash fest.
Realoldsperformance.com is the official Oldsmobile vendor bash site if you would like to exercise negative concerns there.

I'm just trying to check out the cool motor RM just dragged in here.

That would put you at either #14 or #20 on the list, and the fastest/quickest with iron heads.

To find out how to get on the list, go to http://www.realoldspower.com/phpBB2/...er=asc&start=0

And good luck with your sale.
