1968 gas tank

Hi everyone
Does anyone know if a tank from a 70-72 will fit on a 68 cutlass s?
I've found one close by for a good price but not sure if it will work?
Every site I've visited has different numbers for the years.
68 calls for a gm34c
70 calls for a gm34q or r

any ideas

The later tank will bolt up, but the vent connections will be different. 70-up had provisions for evap cannister plumbing.
