Back in 1964 or so i recall a neighbor having a new or nearly new Olds. It was a small car, by early 60's standards. It was a 2 door hard top...a red beauty. I rode in it a few times and it was fast....really fast! It had a 4 speed manual. The car had something very unusual or my neighbor was just BS'ing me or my recollection is failing me. He told me the car had vapor injection or something of that sort. I recall him getting a glass container...maybe a quart but likely smaller...possibly triangular instead of normal round shaped bottles.....and placing the bottle under the hood. The liquid in the bottle was clear. I think it had a bracket or holder that accepted it and a screw cap with a tube attached that went ???. Was it really "go juice" as he referred to it as or was this windshield washer? I am now 55 years old but am not senile. I was just a kid back then and I paid little attention to details. Any one have any idea what I am recalling? DWR

1961-1963 Olds F-85 Starfire 215 c.i. aluminum V-8 with a water injected turbocharger (no, I'm not kidding).
The "Turbo Rocket Fluid" was half water, half methyl alcohol. It didn't work too well. C.J.

in 1963 the olds f85 had a model (jetfire) that in fact had a turbo on it that did have
such a bottle, as said filled with water&methyl alchohol, but was no longer available in '64.the manual 4sp. was also an option for the jetfire.so it certainly could have been go-go juice in the bottle if it was a '63 jetfire turbo.if it wasnt then it was the triangu lar shaped bottle that was filled w/ws fluid as most g.m.cars of that era had snapped in their bracket under the hood for top off.so,he could have been using a go-go juice or just pulling your leg.Don from Ohio |

Since the 215 was history, the blower was no longer needed. Quote:
The water/alcohol mixture was used in a simple water injection system. I wonder how long it takes to dig up a three year old post. Norm |
