1962 starfire wheel bolt pattern
Hi everyone,
I just purchased a 62 starfire and it's on it's way to California. The tires are shot and I have to replace them. Thought about changeing the rims too. Can someone tell me the bolt pattern for the wheels and if anyone knows if American Racing or ? has wheels for this car. Thanks for the info... |

5x5 bolt circle 14x6 wheel. You'll find hardly anybody makes 14" tires big enough for this car anymore, so a custom wheel may be a good way to go. Lots of trucks are 5x5 so finding something you like shouldn't be too difficult. Just remember a Starfire has a lot of chrome and you might need to go conservative with wheels to keep from looking, shall we say, blingy.
Plus you don't have to fool with those damn wheelcover clips...

When I bought my '62 Starfire it had a set of Cooper tires on it. I don't recall the size off the top of my head, but they performed & handled fine. They looked a bit small & rode hard, so I replaced them with a set of 8.50 x 14 bias tires from Coker. What I gave up in handling I more than made up for in appearance & ride quality.
Those hubcap clips are a PITA, but nothing looks better on those cars than the factory spinner disks with the color accents. Anything else looks like it should be cruisin' the 'hood! |
