Got it! + VIN Q/A??

I traded the freebie purple Escort to the guy today for that Delta. SWEET!!
Almost everything is salvageable, Maybe even the carpet!!! There are 2 frozen blocks of ice on the rear floor pans from leaky weatherstripping right now though. I fixed the heater core.... a hairline crack on the top of the HC metal tubing. A little solder and a torch + fixed it on the spot. Turns out the first guy had already purchased the proper stock exhaust for it, and it was in his backyard just starting to rust.
Slapped it on, with a few el cheapo hangers and you can't even tell the motor is idling Air cleaner was FULL of leaves and misc crap, and the gas smelled like it was on it's way out, carb cleaner saved the day.

The Escort shifter was stuck in park and I had to take the whole thing apart to see what the deal was.... turns out that the safety brake lockout, was rusted to the shifter shaft (they are connected, but Ford expects them to move independently?!). Liquid wrench, rubber mallet, and screwdriver CRACK! ...game over ya pRi*K.
Shifts great now, that is unless someone spills Diet coke (or whatever that nastiness was) in there again.

All in all it was a fun time. 2 days worth of work rolling around in 5 inches of snow and burning chopped up pallets in a 55 gal. drum to warm up periodically. But now, my driveway is all O L D S M O B I L E again!

I was going to take pictures for you guys, but I can't find the camera.....Hope it isn't in the snow somewhere.

It has a really odd VIN that won't decode right though......
I'll post my results in a few minutes.

http://www.v8cars.hu/oldsvin/decode.php

http://members.aol.com/drewinva/olds/vin/

http://www.decodethis.com/

FIRST TRY:
1G3BN37Y5FY386058
Year: 1985
Division: Oldsmobile
Series: Delta 88 Royale
Body: Coupe (2 door)
Engine: 307 (5.0) V8 4BBL
Restraint Code: Unknown (VIN B) ?????
Corporation: General Motors
Plant: Unknown (VIN Y) ??????
Serial Number: 386058

I don't know what restraint codes are, and I don't like "Unknowns" and "What the F is that doing theres" Maybe this was a secret service Delta 88 assembled in a Puerto Rican nuclear reactor?

SECOND TRY:
Drew's AOL decoder doesn't even have a Delta88 option.

3RD TRY:
The VIN you have entered is unrecognizeable.

OK, chassis service manual says Wilmington, DE is the Y assembly plant.

I Still don't know what a Check digit is though.
