wiper switch bad
wiper switch bad
Well I've got another problem now. The wipers wouldn't shut off, until I pushed down hard on the switch. So how hard is it to find and replace the wiper switch. Sorry, this is on a 1972 Cutlass. I'm finding something wrong everytime I start the car. The Joys of owning a 40 year old car, Barb.
for me on a 70-72 it is easier to take out the left gauge cluster and reach in from there to take it out. i even take out the right gauge cluster so i can get both hands and arms in there if i have to. it will likely require you to be on the floor a time or two also. the **** has a real little set screw in one side. loosen it and the **** comes off then there are two little nuts to come off the back. i will try to post a picture if i get time tonight.
i found a picture on my computer. it has 3 screws on the back. they take a 1/4 inch socket. it is not a great picture of the back side but may help.

Thanks, I did push down on the switch with a little force and it stopped.
I'm sure will need a switch in the future, and I really appreciate the help.
I'll see how it goes the next time I try it. Thanks Barb, You guys are great.

i wasn't thinking about that, what joesw31 is talking about is if the wipers tuck down under the hood level. if they tuck under the hood you would want the switch listed with fusick. the other wipers just go down and stop, they don't tuck lower when turned off. i don't have any of those switches.
