Question Need info/options

OK so I bought the motor that was for sale on here a little while ago. We went back and forth a little bit, but the guy was 100% correct and it was a 1968 Olds Rocket 350 with the 350 tranny and they were pulled out of a 1968 Olds Delmont.

Anyway, This is the motor that I'm dropping into my 1985 Delta 88. Motor runs strong and doesn't smoke so I'm just going to drop it in and start racing in a little while (street and strip car).

I swapped the manifold and carb. I went to a Edelbrock Performer RPM (7111) and a Edelbrock American thunder 650 CFM electric choke carb. I also had a 180* thermo in my shed that was still in the package, so I threw that into the motor as well.

The Delta already has dual "X" pipe exhaust, 2.5", sporting Flowmaster Super 40's, a "Be Cool" raditor w/ electric 'puller' fan using the stock shroud. I also jsut bought a true dual roller timing chain that I'm putting in tomorrow. which I could go +4* -4* or TDC with (I'll probably go TDC)

Anyway, with the 2 barrel, the Delmont was rated at 250 hp and 355 ft lbs, with the extras mentioned above, what do you think the hp and ft lbs would be. A few guys are all telling me the same numbers (280 to 300 HP and @ 370 to 385 ft lbs).

Plus I would like to know if anybody knows what the 0-60, 1/4 mile times and vechile weight are on the 68 Delmont with the 350.

I plan on racing the Delta with this motor and people are saying I'll be in the mid to low 14's. I was only expecting 18's with the swap

Personally, my dad raced a bone stock 76 trans am (3700 lbs), about 225 bhp, and ran mid to low 15s. That delta with a 250 hp should be around there.
The way it's set up now, I'd say at least 14.7

My guess would be low 16's....had a 66 Delta with 425 2bbl....I installed dual exhaust, wider tires, a Holley 650 spreadbore, and it would run 15:70 in the quarter. A posi would have helped....it had a 323 rear gear. Without doing things internally like HC pistons, balancing, cam, head work, the HP gain is limited and only slight increases can be made with bolt ons.....Have Fun at the Track!
