70 SX...whats it worth?
I may be able to buy a 70 SX for 3K. It is in fairly good shape. The body has very little rust. Interior will need upholstry. and the motor is rebuildable. Looks like a piston got burned....ran lean? Sorry no pics right now. Just kinda wondered if the price was in the right ball park. It is Orange in color. May have had one repaint a long time ago. Thanks

If it is any help, I just bought a turnkey daily driver 1972 Olds Cutlass last fall for $3000. I put on tires, and plates, fixed the AC, and drive it a few times a week. I recently changed the tranny but that was MY fault that I burned it up....LOL
Needs floors, a little trunk work, windshield frame replaced. Could use a coat of paint too but what 35 year old street driven car doesn't?? And I feel I got one hell of a deal on mine. IF YOU think it is worth it...then it is worth it. If you have questions, then maybe it is not in your ballpark or what you are comfortable spending or needing that much work. Old cars are tricky.... but no matter what it will cost you $$$$ no matter what you pay for the shell, and you will probably NEVER get your return on it. John |

I would pay 3X that much (maybe more) for a '70 SX, especially if it's relatively rust free and all there. This is a pretty rare car, you just don't see them on the road. I used to own one 30 years ago, and hope to get one in the future. I would grab it! You can always get your $$ back if you decide not to keep it. Just verify it's a true SX (455, 442 suspension, dual cutout exhaust, etc.) $3k is still a good price on any decent shape Cutlass. Chumley

It isn't a shell. It is all there, just someone burnt a piston. Engine is savable for a rebuild. I looked at the car and the guy wasn't currently working....now he is and has not called me. It is just sitting out in the elements. The paint isn't really too bad but one quarter has some small rust spots. The paint looks original and is orange? |

For $3K I might be interested. Does it have buckets and console? What is the color scheme and where abouts is it located? I'm in Ca. near San Francisco. I have a '72 Supreme which is turning into a $$$ pit.
