Vacuum Reducer Valve (VRV)
I've searched extensively (NAPA, Autozone, etc) for a Vacuum Reducer Valve for my 77 olds cutlass to no avail. Does anyone have any sources for purchasing this part?
Caution: I was replacing old vacuum hoses and when I pulled the hose off of the vrv a piece of the old vrv came off with the old hose - the 30 yr old plastic parts are very delicate to say the least... Appreciate any leads - Gene ![]() |

Is this the piece that bolts to the intake near the front, and has three vacuum hoses running to it?

VRV photos attached
The VRV is made of plastic and it lays on the head in front of the carburetor.
One side is black and the other is beige. According to the shop manual... "The VRV reduces intake manifold vacuum... The valve has one port on the manifold side and two ports on the DTVS side of the valve; the center port is open to vent at the carburetor air horn, the outboard port to the "MT" port of the DTVS switch." Also, according to the manual..."The driveability of the car will be affected and the idle will be rough if the valve is malfunctioning." I attached a couple pictures of it and if anyone knows who sells it, please let me know... Thanks, Gene |

If you can get a part number (on the VRV or from the shop manual), a GM dealer or www.gmpartsdirect.com might still stock it. Otherwise, it looks like a trip to the salvage yard to me.

How about this, the number on the black side is 419541. The number on the white side is 28776A. If you can't find a new one, I have a used one .

I believe you've got it
I have the same number on the black side of the vrv as well. Cannot make out the number on the beige side, but yours is probablty the same one. If you want, let me know the cost for it (send info in an email if you'd like) I appreciate your time and kindness in locating one for me!!
