70 F85

Hello, I bought a 70 F85 from an elderly lady(1st owner) about 10 yrs ago. It was in perfect shape and all orig. I really enjoyed driving it around town but now it is retired in the back yard and is slowly showing rust. Since owning the car, I have yet to see any f85 on the road. Yes i see the 70-442s and cuttys but never an f85. The same goes for web sites. I get very little info if any on this car. I know olds made some 2k f85 during 1970 but there is little info on how many are avail and what they are worth.. if any one can give me some info on this i would appriciate your time.. many thks...bandit

Ever notice how you hear a lot about Chevy Impalas but not so much Bel Airs? Same kinda thing. An F-85 is a stripped down Cutlass....skinny tires, poverty hubcaps, 6 cylinder, rubber floormats instead of carpet, that kind of thing. You could order any options you wanted, but EVERYTHING was an option on those! I guess they'd call it "entry level" today.

Any maintenance info you read on Cutlass is exactly the same on F-85s. Yes, they are unusual. And I have seen only one 1970 F-85 442.

First, get that thing out of the backyard! Then get your hands on the '70 Service Manual and you will have most of what you will need for maintenance. Most of all... drive that thing Man!! I have a 5 series BMW and a Porsche 928, but nothing puts a grin on my face more than my '69 S with a 455 4 spd 3.91 gears! GOONNEE!
