Does anyone know the cure to the classic GM lap belt malfunction? my dad's 1983 98 regency has the old lap belts in the backseat and both are stuck in that horrible spot where they can't retract in, but can't be pulled out. We had a similar problem with a '78 Impala, but I want to fix this one. Can anyone help?

Seat belts
You'd be suprised how much stuff can jamb up those belt retractors. I'd pull them out and take the plastic covers off. Shake them out real good. You might wind up with some loose change or a toothpick. Sometimes the belts get twisted and jamb. The recoil spring may be broken as well. Good luck. ambed .
