62 Starfire Rear Main Seal

My rear main seal was leaking a little. I hoped it would stop when I started driving the car more regularly. I just returned from a 200 mile round trip and the it took three quarts of oil to keep the engine topped off. Can the rear main seal be replaced with the engine in place?
I read on other posts for different engines that there is a rubber seal that is superior to the rope seal.
Is a rubber seal available for a 394?
Thanks.

The rope seal can be replaced while the engine is in the car but it is a hassle and a special tool is required and in the end the seal prob will still leak. I believe the neoprene seal is available for the 394 but I dont know the source and it should be an easy process.

yes the seal can be replaced while the engine is in the car, you need to raise the engine high enough to remove the pan then undo the mains and drop the crank low enough to slide the old seal out and the new one in.

wiper switch

Would you happen to have a 2 speed wiper switch for a 62 Starfire?
