62 Starfire HVAC Vacuum Connections???
62 Starfire HVAC Vacuum Connections???
My car has the deluxe heater, no A/C. The 61 shop manual Fig. 16-29 shows the vacuum source as the fuel pump. I installed new vacuum hoses following Fig. 16-29. My car also has the vacuum tank shown on Fig. 16-38 Standard Heater. This shows a tee in the distributor advance line with the vacuum source being the carburetor. The tee connectes to the t-stat on the heater box inside the car.
I was about to reinstall the vacuum tank on the fire wall, but could not figure out what connected to it. Looking back at the pics I took before disassembly, there was a vacuum hose coming thru the firewall connected to the vacuum tank. I have not started the car yet to see if the system will work as it connected. Which way is right, can I eliminate the vacuum tank on the firewall?
Thanks.

That makes sense. I have not reconnected the trunk release. There is only one vacuum source at the rear of the carburetor. The power brake booster gets it's vacuum here. I can put a tee in the line and run that over to the tank. The tank looks like a fat soup can. It is mounted on the firewall, to the left of the voltage regulator, just above the power brake booster.
Thanks.
Thanks.
