1968 98 Restoration
Hello to the group! I am considering the purchase of a 1968 98 Convertible and was hoping some of the members here might be able to point me in a good direction.
The car is going to need a new top and interior. I'm not worried about locating a top or carpet and door panels. What I would like to know is if anyone is reproducing upholstery kits for this car. If not, will I have to have the seat upholstery stitched (and how costly is that)? I am just trying to get a feel for what I would be getting myself into cost wise. Is there another GM car whose upholstery would fit this 98? I am no stranger to Oldsmobiles, but this would be the first restoration work on a full size Olds. I do own a 1968 Delmont conv., but the upholstery only has one tear so it's OK for now. Well, I will stand-by for any advice and/or opinions you folks might have to offer! Thanks!! |

I don't know much about interior availability, but since you have a 1968 88 convert. this would be the logical match to put in the driveway beside it

What part of the country are you in? By the way... I've got parts from a 1967 98 two door hardtop, a 1968 two door Delta 88 hardtop and a 1968 two door hardtop Delta Custom. Let me know if your looking for anything

Why do you have to be so far away!? I am in CT, about as far east from you as possible
The 98 (if I get it) should have a new rear bumper. My Delmont's rear bumper has great chrome, but a large dent. Haven't priced repair for that yet.Do you have an original 8-track player? That would be pretty cool. If I get the 98, I will be looking for a blue steering wheel for it (deluxe rim blow). I appreciate your response. I will think of other items I need. Thanks again for your opinion as well. That is kind of why I wanted it. Be cool to have both the entry level and top-of-the-line Full-Size Olds Convertibles from the same model year. |

New Old OLds upholsteyr
I've got a `68 98 convert that was reupholstered by a local shop before I got it 3 yrs ago. They did a spectacular job -- looks showroom and true to original. Have you checked to see what folks thereabout can do? (I'm in Cincinnati)

![]() I imagine it would cost less for a design that doesn't use so many different panels. They weren't cheap, but now they're just like new. You might also see if you can find an original seat from a donor car...heck you might find a whole car for less than it costs to get the seats done . |
