Picture of my 98's heart before "surgury"

One of the things on my to-do list is change engines in my Turquiose 1967 Olds 98 before to long. The present engine is my "old" race car engine that I freshened/de-tuned before putting it in. It has a milder/torque cam and a Preformer instead of a Port-o-sonic as when in the race car. Race car (3600# and 4:10 gears)went 11:47@117mph, the 98, named "Money-Maker", 4680# and 3:08 posi went 14:18@100mph. She runs pretty good for a Fat Lady. At 80 to 100 miles per hour roll-out I would have loved to race a newer Corvette or GTO. At 3/4 mark of the Drag-strip, she is just starting to really pull, still in second gear. When I was racing her, I would drive to the track with drag radials, race and drive home. She took 3rd place money at the Miller meet 3 years ago. I drove her up and back to the Miller meet last year but didn't race her. The engine is a 455 + 0.060, true 10.4 comp, iron big valved heads with work done to them. The heat cross-overs are filled so she is a little cold-blooded for the street plus I have to mix race gas and she has an 8 qt oil pan. I want a more drivable car. She was a project car that got out of controll, seems like they all do. I have lots of engines to choose from in various stages, probably a 9 to 1 c/r 455 + 0.030 I will put in. I though about putting a long rod (7") 455 in it, about 470 cu/in but changed my mind. I hope it will still run in the high 14's. So many cars, so much to do. When I gt the new engine I will put the belt on the A/C, it is charged and works. Ken
