No turn signal or backup lights

Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a new forum user although not new to Oldsmobile. The 1971 Oldsmobile 98 coupe I drive has been "my car" since I was in highschool in the mid 70's. Because of a recent electrical fire, I had to get a replacement wiring harness from salvage. The wires going down to the transmission were "clipped" and I had to add to them. My factory service manual shows a 150 ohm resistor in one of the wires going down there. Is it possible thats why my signal lights or backup lights won't work? Everything else has been checked, fuse, flasher, etc. Anyone heard of this or, have any ideas? There is no resistor in the line at this time. Regards, Steve Wilson
