Another new guy
Another new guy
Hi my name is Bill Nye but NOT the science guy. I got my first ride in an Oldsmobile when I was around 13 or 14. A friend of my Dad had a 1970 W-30. I remember riding in the car and he slammed it into second and went sideways all the way up a hill, in traffic. After I got past the initial scare I don't think the smile went away for a week.
I had a front wheel drive cutlass in the 80's but I won't count that. I got my 1978 Cutlass 8 yrs. ago. It was a rusted basket case, now it doesn't look so bad. I have had 13 different Olds' since then but now I am down to about six. A 1954 88 4dr , a 1955 88 2dr, a 1955 parts car, a 1985 Cutlass w/455, a 1986 cutlass was a - one owner car - when I got it bone stock 307, and my 1978 cutlass drag car. It was an "H" code car so it came with ch$^y 305 so now it has BBC. If I get rich I want to build a BBO for it. I went a best of 11.16 at 119.95 mph with the 1978 car. So close....
I have been lurking at ROP for a few years, never was able to sign up, think the site is down or something. Found a link to here the other day, glad I found you.

Most of my pictures are in the "old computer" and not available. If I get my camera back from my wife I will try to take some photos. Guess I need to learn how to post pictures here, duh.
Welcome aboard.
There are quite a few experienced mid fifties guys on the board, so if we can be of help just post a question. Sometimes we are hanging around the vintage forum but just post where you think it is most approate.....Lost in the fifties ....Tedd

54 + 55 olds
Thanks, I don't have much experience with the older cars. I have done mostly 70's & 80's cars. I have had the 50's cars exactly one year this month and to be honest I did not do anything with them yet. I got tires on them so I could move them and cleaned some trash out, that is about it. I was hoping to win the Powerball. I had a 403 built over the winter and just paid the machinist off. The 50's car will have to wait for funding.
Pictures
Is there a page on this site that describes how to post pictures ? I am a little bit technologically challenged and have no teenagers at home........... I would like to post a few pictures of my Oldsmobile's.
When you look below this message box, you will see a box with Go Advanced in it. CLick on this and then it will give you the option of managing attachments. There are some limitations on the file size. If I can do it, it is pretty dang easy.
Here's a standard set of pic instructions that I put together. It's just one way of getting the job done. Looking forward to seeing the pics of your Toro.
* clik the 'go advanced' tab
* Press the icon that looks like a paper clip; and A 'Manage Attachments' box will appear
* Choose (navigate on your computer to where the pics are stored) and hit 'open'. repeat for all 5 pics.
* Hit 'upload'. It may take a bit of time depending on your pic resolution. If you have ultra high res, you will have to 'resize' them with your picture editor to a 1024X768 size or smaller for the C.O. server to accept them.
* Close the "manage attachments' box.
* Preview your post and the images will be at the bottom
* Hit 'submit post' and the thread will have the images installed at the bottom. Unfortunately you can only do 5 pics at a time this way.
If you have the pics hosted on another web server?
* Copy the IMG url and Press the icon that looks like an envelope with mountains on it. Paste the URL into that box and hit 'ok'. You can install up to 20 images this way.
* Be sure to preview your work.
* Make sure the images don't carry on across the page, stack them for easier viewing.
Picture attempt
I have better pictures in my old computer, this is all I have for now. 5th try, It says a security token is missing and won't let me post pictures, oh well, my cars aren't that great anyway.
Ding ding ding....winner every time!!
Now you know how to post pics. Nice looking car. WOW! Do you ever have a nice large property. There's enough room there to build a small 100X200 shop I think... Then those old beauties in the corner wouldn't be out in the weather
